The Tahoe Forest Hospital District Board of Directors and President and CEO Harry Weis have mutually agreed to part ways. The Board offers its gratitude and appreciation to Harry for his nine years of dedicated service to the health system. As President and CEO for Tahoe Forest Health System, Harry focused his time on improving the quality and care of the health system’s patients and the wellness of our community.
Under his stewardship, Harry brought financial stability to our District in an era of frequent challenges, including bringing rural health clinics to Tahoe Forest that provide a high level of service. Under his tenure, the District established a Level 3 Trauma Center and its health system grew provider clinic visits threefold and other outpatient visits fourfold. He designed and implemented a hospital-wide gain sharing program that has incentivized all employees to improve performance. He has also worked to improve access to care and led the development of the Joint Powers Authority to find solutions to the workforce housing problems the District and its partner agencies face.
The Board of Directors has now chosen to go in a new leadership direction, which is the right of any Board. Therefore, Tahoe Forest Health System and Harry have amicably agreed on a mutual parting of the ways, with Harry’s last day as CEO being June 14, 2024. During the pendency of those discussions, Harry was placed on a paid administrative leave. That leave was not disciplinary in nature and should not be characterized otherwise.
Harry thanks his amazing team for making these past nine years the most amazing era of improvement for our patients in the entire 75-year history of the health system. The Board thanks Harry for his service to our community and wishes him well in the future.
