Tahoe Forest Heath System is proud to announce the completion of its new Joseph Family Center for Women and Newborn Care.
The new Joseph Family Center for Women and Newborn Care, a Measure C project, completes years of improvements to the Tahoe Forest campus. Thanks to a voter-approved initiative providing funding, the Measure C improvements brought Tahoe Forest Hospital up to state-mandated seismic standards and modernized and upgraded life-saving health care facilities.
“We are grateful to our community,” said Harry Weis, Tahoe Forest Health System President & CEO, “for the honor of allowing us to provide the best care possible for the moms, babies and families of the Tahoe/Truckee area.”
The new, state-of-the-art facility, warmly decorated with photos by local photographers, includes private birthing suites, each featuring a JacuzziTM tub, and private postpartum suites. Telemetry monitors ensure baby’s safety while allowing laboring mothers to walk about, use a birthing ball, shower, or relax in the JacuzziTM. To allow for skin-to-shin contact after birth, radiant heaters were installed on the ceiling to keep mom and baby warm and comfortable.
Tahoe Forest Hospital’s Joseph Family Center for Women and Newborn Care provides comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care with a family-centered focus and individualized support services. It is a three-time winner of the Women’s Choice award for Best Hospitals for OB and has also been nationally certified Baby Friendly since 2010. This certification recognizes hospitals that have made a dedicated commitment to help mothers with breastfeeding. The Joseph Family Center for Women and Newborn Care provides the tools and support for moms to be successful with breastfeeding by providing extensive training and educational programs for both staff and parents. They also offer a nurturing environment that supports mother and infant bonding immediately after delivery.
