Tahoe Forest Healthy System Foundation is excited to have received a $15,000 grant from the Safeway Foundation’s Cancer Research and Treatment campaign. 100% of the grant funds will be used directly to assist patients who are diagnosed with cancer and needing further assistance with treatment.
“This gift will have a tremendous impact on our programs,” said Martha Simon, Executive Director, Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation. “We’d like to thank the Safeway Foundation for their commitment to making our community a better place to live and work.”
The grant will support the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center’s Patient and Family Programs, offering access to alternative cancer medicine at no cost to cancer patients, family members and caretakers. The Patient and Family Programs include access to counseling, therapy, acupuncture, biofeedback and support groups. Additionally, the grant will assist patients with payments for biopsies and follow-up exams and will be used to purchase Safeway gift cards to assist breast cancer patients with their nutritional needs.
Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation connects donors to health and wellness causes they care about. Through continued generous support from individual donors and grants, the Foundation is able to augment capital needs, facilitate special projects and underwrite health and wellness programs throughout the Truckee-Tahoe community.
